Cincinnati State is looking for an Instructor (Tenure Track) to provide instruction in its Civil Engineering Technology (CET) majors (Construction Management and Architectural Major). The position is a
full-time, tenure-track faculty position for which the primary responsibility is to develop and provide classroom and laboratory instruction of credit-bearing courses and assist with program assessment and curriculums within the CET majors.
The ideal candidate should have broad knowledge and experience in Civil Engineering technologies used within the AEC industry. Depending upon experience, this position will be responsible for classroom and/or online instruction in courses in:
The ideal candidate should have broad knowledge and experience in Civil Engineering technologies used within the AEC industry. Depending upon experience, this position will be responsible for classroom and/or online instruction in courses in:
- Basic Plan Reading
- Architectural Drafting & 2D CAD
- Architectural Design and 3D Modeling
- Advanced MEP Revit Modeling
- Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)
Essential Duties:
- Develop and deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Assist in the development of new and maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials
- Ensure that students achieve course and learning outcomes as defined by the program chair.
- Complete, as directed, all start and end of semester responsibilities, including submission of no-show rosters, final grades and other designated materials to the requesting college office.
- Maintain office hours to answer student questions and handle course-related matters
- Respond to requests (e.g., from students, administration, academia area chairs, department heads, committee chairs, records office, etc.) in a timely and thorough manner
- Support College and Division outreach and recruiting events
- Attend program, departmental, divisional, and college meetings
- Serve on college committees, task force, and work groups
- Some night or weekend hours may be required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
- 3-5 years of industry experience in BIM and VDC
- Comprehensive knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Teaching, training or instructional experience of technical topics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
- Industry experience in BIM,
- Teaching experience at the Secondary or Post-Secondary level. A teaching demonstration will be required during an interview process.

- Ability to work in a team atmosphere in program and curriculum development.
- Computer based software, analytical, and report writing skills.
