About the Role
As our in-house Accountant, you'll be the financial backbone of the company by playing a critical role in managing our daily accounting operations, maintaining financial accuracy, and ensuring compliance with state cannabis regulations. You’ll work closely with company leadership, store managers, and our external CPA partners to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across all business entities and store locations
- Track daily sales, cash deposits, vendor purchases, and other key transactions
- Manage accounts payable (utilities, lease payment, services, etc.)
- Process bi-weekly payroll, including wage adjustments, taxes, deductions, reimbursements, and corrections
- Monitor and update wage ranges for each role annually
- Assist with budget development and ongoing department budget tracking as well as forecasting future financial performance
- Monitor cash flow and recommend ways to improve financial sustainability
- Partner with store managers and department leads to ensure accurate expense reporting
- Provide ownership with financial data, reports, and profitability analysis
- Ensure accounting processes are in full compliance with cannabis industry regulations
- Prepare documentation for audits, license renewals, and banking partnerships
- Collaborate with our external CPA on financial planning and reporting
- 3 years accounting experience (retail industry experience is a plus)
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and comfortable using MacOS
- Experience with payroll processing, financial reporting, and budgeting
- Strong understanding of financial reports and accounting best practices
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management
- Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive financial information
