Job Summary and Responsibilities

SUMMARY 

 

The Senior Construction Manager Will Act as both a career coach and a role model for rest of the team as well as be responsible for utilizing expertise in construction management to develop strategies in order to effectively build, manage, deploy and operate a large-scale metropolitan market and/or region and improve metrics. They will support the Markets on all development activities for a defined project, including supporting our internal network deployment teams.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Responsible for managing, mentoring, training associates to support back office needs for telecommunications deployment/construction work.
  • Ensure the most economical and best construction practices are utilized
  • Review established Bill of Materials to ensure proper usage within client guidelines.
  • Track, review and approve closeout documents and general contractor change orders
  • Database and timeline updates to track adherence to project deadlines
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance processes and resolution including all punch-list items with Quality Control Team
  • Develop construction schedules and manage subcontractor partners to meet the expectation.
  • Maintain safe work environments, monitor safety process of contractors, compliance with regulations
  • Build, manage and motivate all members of the team
  • Support Market Manager by tracking project objectives, resource loading, and timelines as well as continuous improvement initiatives and oversee process improvement teams
  • Communicate project status reports to the customer and executive leadership team including risk assessments and mitigation plans
  • Manage fast track, large-scale multi-faceted telecommunications projects with emphasis on fiber optics, electrical, construction methods, maintenance, and restoration.
  • Manage daily calls and deliverables from multiple vendors to review projected forecasts for the day/week for construction starts, completions, and rejections
  • Ensure daily/weekly reporting to client is accurate and on track
  • Driving is an essential function of this position

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

  •  Ability to effectively and professionally communicate/report, verbally and written, internally as well as externally.
  • Ability to prioritize and facilitate multiple projects simultaneously, balance ongoing duties with several special projects and perform accurately and professionally under pressure with very short deadlines
  • Proven time management and organizational skills. Attention to details, Focus on Driving business decisions by Data is a key attribute.
  • Excellent communicator, communicating clearly and often with local as well as virtual environments on a national basis.
  • Driven to succeed, and able to work flexible hours and under pressure.
  • Independent work style and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Exposure to fully integrated deployment platform solutions for organizing and managing projects, site scopes, supplies, deliverables, crew planning, closeouts, and invoicing is a big plus.
  • Creative mindset and Out of the Box thinking is a big plus.
  • Must be able to demonstrate valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  Must be able to provide proof of insurance.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 to 12 years’ total of OSP wireline experience.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 to 12 years’ total of OSP wireline experience. Emphasis on fiber optic construction.
  • Strong ability to review Structural Analysis reports for pass/fail criteria and understand/implement modifications if needed.
  • Must be able to read Construction Drawings and Fiber Optic Engineering Designs.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Financial analysis and budgeting skills, P&L experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy.
  • Strong and Lengthy Experience with the various municipalities including all Planning, Zoning, Permitting and Site Development requirements.
  • Previous experience working with the Utility Companies is a plus
  • Experience with the design/permitting of wireline applications of utility poles, ROW, PUE, and private easements of (Communication & Power), in addition to traffic control regulations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and provide quick and accurate course correction.
  • Experience with using automation/technology to derive deployment efficiencies in a central office environment.
