Summary of Position:
The Registered Nurse provides quality clinical services to patients receiving care at Circle the City. The Registered Nurse is a critical member of the patient care team who is responsible for making clinical decisions related to the triage of patients and prioritization of care, coordinating day-to-day clinical operations, planning care in partnership with licensed independent practitioners, implementing various treatments and evaluating the delivery of care within the established regulatory guidelines and licensed nursing practice standards. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Triages health center patients need and make clinically sound decisions for prioritization of patients with urgent or high risk need via both face-to-face and telephonic assessments.
- Effectively manages patient flow by timely rooming of patients from waiting room, completion of intake procedures, vital signs, patient history, chief complaint, allergies, etc.
- Proactively implements standing provider orders as indicated by patient complaint.
- Assists provider with exams and minor procedures as requested by provider.
- Administers immunizations and medications as ordered by the provider and documents accordingly in the electronic health record (EHR)_.
- Performs office testing and treatments as ordered by provider. Collects, prepares, and transports specimens for laboratory testing including phlebotomy and documents in the EHR accordingly. Universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Thoroughly documents all services rendered in the EHR.
- Works as an extension of the assigned provider, coordinating inbound requests related to medication refills, test results, critical labs, referrals, etc.
- Partners with providers to achieve quality improvement goals by effectively monitoring relevant population health metrics and proactively implementing necessary tests, labs, screenings, etc.
- Maintains a safe and healthy environment of care through appropriate cleaning and sterilization and disinfection of medical equipment, exam rooms and other areas requiring routine sterilization.
- Monitors the quality of the housekeeping function to ensure a safe environment.
- Monitors supply levels and expiration dates of clinic inventory and processes periodic supply orders to address low inventory or out-of-date supplies.
- Will monitor assigned EHR workflow and work with Practice Manager to identify any incomplete orders by the provider.
- Perform procedures and treatments as ordered including, but not limited to wound care, small volume nebulizer (SVN) treatments, oxygen, electrocardiogram (ECG) and assisting providers with procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records.
- Other Duties as presented by supervisor and/or Directors.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Basic Knowledge and Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Arizona RN license in good standing.
- Certified in intravenous (IV) therapy, phlebotomy and BLS.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in outpatient clinic, public health care, urgent care or emergency department preferred.
- Competent in basic nursing knowledge of illnesses and treatments.
- Understanding of substance and mental health issues.
- Computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information is required including use of electronic health records.
- Excellent communication skills.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Position requires extended periods of sitting and standing.
- Position requires regular bending and reaching, including transfer of patients.
- Must be able to lift, carry and push 20 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Able to adapt to rapid, unpredictable workflow.
- Able to focus on work at hand with attention to detail.
- Ability to work with difficult patients and those with mental illness.
