Position Summary

Operating specialized equipment including grinding, manual machining and mechanical assembly. Manufacturing large pump rotors for the Navy and Air Force industries. Utilization of up to 9 unique machines daily.

Principal Activities

• Planning and performing rough and finished machining on a variety of advanced machines, both CNC and manual.
• Independently perform setups and tool selection requiring tight tolerances.
• Assisting programmers to optimize manufacturing process.
• Adjustment of machining parameters to achieve proper tolerances.
• Inspection of work ensuring parts conform to specifications.
• Recording labor times and other related data.
• Performing other duties as necessary.
  
  

$32-$35 per hour depending on experience

Job Requirements

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to read Blue prints/Geometric tolerances.
• Instrumentation /Gaging skills required.
• Must be familiar with machinist tools and hand tools (micrometers, verniers, indicators, scales, dial bore gage).
• Must have mechanical aptitude in assembling large parts.
• Must be experienced with manual lathe and honing equipment. Surface and lathe grinding helpful.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be skilled at problem solving, thinking outside the box, and acceptable of change and innovation.
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and stand up to 9 hours per day.
• US Citizenship is required.
  
  

Education & Experience

• Must have HS diploma or GED equivalent; concentration in machining would be a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years experience preferred.
