Description:
The court manages thousands of computing and peripheral computing devices, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, courtroom presentation equipment, servers and data storage arrays. This position is responsible for all aspects of inventory control including: receipt, control, distribution, delivery, auditing and decommissioning of the court’s computer equipment inventory for the Judiciary, the Office of the Chief Judge and all non-judicial departments under the auspices of the Chief Judge.

Description:
The court manages thousands of computing and peripheral computing devices, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, courtroom presentation equipment, servers and data storage arrays. This position is responsible for all aspects of inventory control including: receipt, control, distribution, delivery, auditing and decommissioning of the court’s computer equipment inventory for the Judiciary, the Office of the Chief Judge and all non-judicial departments under the auspices of the Chief Judge.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for documentation of the physical location(s) of all computer and computer peripheral equipment,
- Manage multiple equipment inventory storage rooms,
- Receive all newly purchased equipment or transferred-in equipment,
- Affix assets tags to all new equipment,
- Use bar code scanner to scan serial numbers and assets tags of equipment upon receipt and to update the computer inventory system with new equipment information,
- Check equipment in and out of storage rooms at the request of the operations manager,
- Unpack computer equipment from boxes to stage for technicians to prepare for imaging, deployment and installation,
- Coordinates with building management to discard packaging waste,
- Prepares incident reports for all lost/stolen computer equipment
- Receives and processes salvage equipment from technicians and updates computer inventory system accordingly,
- Use of degaussing machine to magnetically erase old hard drives prior salvaging equipment
- Coordinates with Cook County Bureau of Asset Management to pick up salvaged equipment via established work order procedures
- Routinely conducts physical inventory verification audits on-site at all court facilities
- Prepares annual inventory reports as required by the County’s Board of Commissioners, Comptroller’s Office, Budget Management Office and Bureau of Technology
- Such other duties as may be assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs, including ability to create documents and spreadsheets, and accurate typing skills (45 wpm)
- Possess strong language mechanics – grammar, sentence structure, spelling, proofreading skills
- Attentiveness to detail and sensitivity to issues of confidentiality and professionalism
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds,
- Ability to use pallet jack to move pallets from loading dock to storage rooms, within storage rooms and between storage rooms
- Ability to pool vehicle to deliver equipment to various court facilities
- Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen
- Ability to intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies
- Ability to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation
