Job Description:
An IT Support Specialist ensures the operation of IT infrastructure. This role requires an active and responsive professional who can troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain a reliable IT environment. This person will have a technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to work extended hours during major events. This is an onsite, part-time role.
Requirements and Essential Functions:
- Maintain essential IT operations (OS, security, applications, servers, email, etc.)
- Handle business-critical IT tasks and system improvements
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for Mac OS X, Windows, and common software (Microsoft, Adobe, Google Workspace)
- Install, configure, and support workstations, peripherals, and printers
- Analyze staff needs, identify vulnerabilities, and improve efficiency/accuracy
- Implement application/software upgrades and troubleshoot performance issues
- Train employees on software and hardware usage, providing technical support
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Two years of experience in IT support
- Deep knowledge of operating systems, current equipment/technologies, network maintenance, and system performance monitoring
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience supporting Cisco equipment (IOS, Nexus, WLC, Meraki)
- Certifications: CompTIA Network , CCNA or equivalent
- Strong understanding of 802.11 RF performance/reliability
- Experience with basic firewall configuration (Cisco ASA, FortiGate, pfSense)
- Familiarity with RF, Cable & IPTV solutions, fiber/copper networking
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, documentation, and organization
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science
- Professional IT certifications
- Experience with IP systems
Physical Demand & Work Environments:
- Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
