Job Summary
Cirrus is seeking a highly organized, goal-oriented, strategic Staff Attorney-Contracts to join our growing organization. This Staff Attorney position has a direct reporting line to Cirrus’ Corporate Counsel serving the Innovation and Operations teams at Cirrus. This professional will work closely with the entire Enterprise Legal Team to provide general contracting and project leadership to the Innovation and Operations teams, with a primary focus on managing the strategy for the supplier contracting process. This includes contract drafting, planning, development, negotiations, and administration. The successful candidate will have 1-3 years of broad-based legal experience in dealing with contract issues and general corporate law. A background that incorporates a mixture of law firm and in-house experience is preferred but not required. However, it is a must to be a team player, a person willing to roll up one’s sleeves to take on new challenges, and a person who enjoys practicing law. Strong communication and presentation skills are required as periodic updates to the Cirrus Executive Leadership Team on progress towards key contracting goals, negotiations, and objectives are required.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a broad range of commercial agreements and contracts, including supply/procurement agreements.
- Ensures that contracts are executed in accordance with corporate guidelines and best practices.
- Analyzes all requirements and provisions in contracts, including terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Develops a set of standard and template contracts for the company in collaboration with other members of the Cirrus Legal team.
- Manages current contract database and evaluates contract lifecycle management (“CLM”) platforms to determine the company’s future requirements and needs. Ultimately, implements improvements to the CLM in order to support those requirements.
- Monitors and maintains current knowledge of aviation industry trends in legal and compliance matters and pursues ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge on best practices and risk management.
- Audits existing contracts and oversees contract modifications.
- Analyzes a contract’s risk to the business.
- Visits supplier sites and meets with key business partners.
- Monitors the performance of each signed contract.
- Leads complex contract negotiations and manages all changes in and addendums to existing contracts.
- Identifies potential improvements to existing policies.
- Prepares reports on the status of contracts for management.
- Represents Cirrus in a highly professional manner internally and externally.
- Reliable and predictable attendance
- Travel may be required up to 10%.
- Conducts special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

- J.D. with excellent academic credentials.
- Current attorney licensed and in good standing in at least one State with the ability to become licensed to practice law in Minnesota or in house counsel waiver through Minnesota Rule 10.
- 1-3 years of prior legal experience with contracts.
- Proven negotiation, drafting and analytical skills for various types of commercial contracts. Must be a skilled writer and drafter with a steadfast attention-to-detail.
- Strong oral and written communications, presentation, and facilitation skills. Must interact confidently, persuasively and diplomatically with all levels of Cirrus organization. Must also be a good listener.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment, and be comfortable with minimal supervision.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of contract law, contracting business terms, and general corporate law
- Ability to accurately read, interpret, develop and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts
- Strong understanding of federal procurement regulations
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain thorough documentation processes and results
- Ability to translate complex issues into easily understood summaries or solutions
- Experience with contract lifecycle management (“CLM”) platforms and solutions
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and Teams
