Community Investment Services is looking for an Accountant! What does CIS do? CIS has changed the face of affordable housing in New Jersey. Our woman owned, award winning business has built and redeveloped more then 3,000 units throughout the state bringing high quality options to low and moderate income families. The Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and maintain general ledger and financial statements. The Accountant reports to the Controller.
Urgent need - hiring immediately
Property Management experience a plus
- Maintain assigned property portfolio.
- Oversee A/R and A/P projects.
- Prepare cash flows and projections for property portfolio.
- Manage cash for property portfolio.
- Prepare information and documents needed for Repair and Replacement (R/R) withdrawals.
- Prepare variance report explanations for Profit and Loss Statements.
- Prepare and ensure timely completion of Monthly Operating Report (MOR) for management.
- Reconcile portfolio bank cash accounts for property portfolio.
- Fund payroll accounts for property portfolio.
- Prepare year-end and monthly audit work papers/lead sheets for assigned portfolio.
- Perform month and year-end accounting close for property portfolio.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and answer questions from and for auditors, syndicators and NJHMFA.
- Prepare and ensure timely completion of NJHMFA monthly reports for property portfolio.
- Prepare year-end budgets for property portfolio.
- Prepares monthly and/or quarterly reports for Syndicators
- Maintains and updates Fixed Assets Schedules
- Prepares periodic ROE calculations
- Performs Internal Audits of Accounts Receivables and Payables Functions and activities
- Prepares Insurance packages for NJHMFA
- Must be available to work overtime as required by the demands of the position as a Property Accountant.
- Perform other duties as assigned by CFO and/or Controller.
Requirements:
· Bachelors Degree in Accounting
· Must have 2 - 3 years’ experience as a Full Charge Accountant
· Experience as Accountant in Property Management a Plus
· Solid understanding of accounts payable, receivables, cash management, intercompany accountant, and fixed asset accounting.
· Ability to perform GAAP research for advanced accounting topics.
· Must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
· Must have good communication skills
· Must be able to work well independently as well as with others.
· Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
· Yardi experience a plus.
Will consider candidates without property management accounting experience
