MEAT/BUTCHER-COUNTER ASSOCIATE
Responsibilities:
- Serve and assist customers at the counter explaining the products.
- Maintain and stock product in display, understanding product dating and inventory control.
- Cuts, trims, and bones carcass sections or prime cuts, using knives, meat saw, cleaver, and bandsaw, to reduce to cooking cuts, such as roasts, steaks, chops, stew cubes, and grinding meat.
- Cuts and weighs steaks and chops for individual servings.
- Tends electric grinder to grind meat and shapes and ties roasts.
- Maintain clean and organized work station, back room, storage and surrounding areas.
- Follow all guidelines and procedures as outlined in the health and safety policy manual and as set by the Meat Department Manager and Store Manager.
Requirements :
- General knowledge of meat products and prime cuts.
- Basic meat cooking techniques (cooking time, temperatures- internal/external)
- Understanding the use of cutting equipment, grinders, etc.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time.
- Kneeling, stooping, using stairs, able to lift, carry, push and pull weights of up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to read and write the English language, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required.
