Job Title: Business Advisor – Continuous Improvement
Salary Range: $80,000-95,000
Reports to: Executive Director
The Business Advisor serves as an advisor/consultant to companies (primarily Manufacturers) in the seven northern counties of New York State (the North Country region). Services to be provided are determined based on client need and may include assessment, training delivery, support and coaching, interim executive replacement, or other business assistance. Best-in-class business solutions may include applying Continuous Improvement activities using Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and tools, as well as delivering Lean and workplace safety training. A core responsibility of this position is to develop strong client relationships that will promote future project work, including site and follow-up visits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travel throughout the North Country of northern New York to meet and work with new and existing clients.
- Promote CITEC and future work through the development of strong relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Work in coordination with a client’s leadership to analyze, monitor and assess critical activities affecting operations, processes, and policy.
- Determine, develop, and deliver business-solution services that address, resolve or improve client issue(s).
- Develop training classes and presentations, some of which may be customized for a particular client. This work may require the use of simulations, PowerPoint presentations, exercises and games, and other materials or technology.
- Deliver impactful training and presentations in a variety of settings to include classroom environments, on-site client locations, and at various events.
- Assist clients in finding and securing grants to subsidize services, as well as to prepare for the quarterly NIST survey.
- Manage impact records and the NIST survey for projects.
- Commitment to the achievement of individual and team revenue and productivity targets.
- Assist in research of new services and products for CITEC to offer.
- Participate as needed in CITEC-sponsored events.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Organizational Relationships:
The Business Advisor reports directly to the Executive Director and maintains a positive, cooperative working relationship with all members of the CITEC team.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel throughout the North Country as needed, including reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to meet this requirement.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication, facilitation, interpersonal and coaching skills, as well as effective written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
- Be self-motivated and proactive; comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
- Expertise in operations management, sales, and technical skill set(s) necessary to assist clients.
- Knowledge of course curriculum and training materials development.
- Prior experience preparing and conducting training sessions.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of products and comfortable with various technology platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten years of direct broad-based management experience in a manufacturing environment and in positions of increasing responsibility.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and methods, team leadership best practices, and project management methods.
- Consulting experience and/or previous plant manager/owner experience.
