The CC Buyer Intern provides procurement support in accordance with company procedures and strategic goals while under the direct supervisor’s guidance. This position assists or performs the following duties: initiates the vetting of new vendors, places purchase orders, selects and negotiates with approved vendors and evaluates vendor reliability, obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability and urgency of need; schedules deliveries and follows up on orders to expedite delivery and shipment; obtains certifications of delivery and approves payment invoices for orders placed. Maintains records and files as needed. Performs basic analytical tasks and industry research

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
- Must be a Junior or Senior level in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing or other relevant discipline.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or above (A=4.0) and must provide proof of GPA at time of hire to verify eligibility requirements.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the Corporation
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
Candidates must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials Card)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.

Job Duties
- Source and create purchase orders for items in accordance with established company policies and procedures. Purchase Orders to be reviewed and released by Purchasing Agents.
- Observe negotiations with vendors conducted by Purchasing Agents.
- Assist Purchasing Agents in the bid and evaluation process.
- Serve as liaison between Procurement and Accounting resolving invoice issues.
- Assist Purchasing Agents by reviewing terms, conditions and contract pricing.
- Maintain contract files for audit purposes as well as historical activity data to assist in business decisions.
- Perform routine and repetitive duties independently and according to the established procedures and practices.
- Perform more complex assignments with direct guidance from supervision.
