Minimum Qualifications
Band 1-Associate, entry levelBand 2-minimum two (2) years of related engineering experienceBand 3-minimum eight (8) years of related engineering experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field (i.e., Materials Science Engineering, Welding Engineering or related Engineering field),3.0 GPA or Above
- Willingness to obtain, within 3 years, any credential requirements- Certified owner-user inspector.
- Co-Op/Internship experience
- Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
Preferred Skills
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of metallurgical principles and properties, including structure, corrosion properties, failure mechanism, and design criteria.
- Ability to analyze data, complete visual inspection, identify problems and determine solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work within or lead a team.
- Ability to maintain productivity without constant supervision.
- Ability to learn and use various engineering and analysis software.
- Demonstrated initiative in school and prior work experience.
- Willing to work in a process environment.
NOTE: This position is in-person and will require relocation to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Job Duties
- Review new piping and equipment systems for proper metallurgical selection, based on need, practicality of installation and economics.
- Review existing piping and equipment for adequacy of the metallurgical design, making recommendation for upgrades when necessary.
- Analyze metallurgical failures due to corrosion or cracking and make recommendations for upgrades as necessary.
- Review fluid compositions and determine impacts to piping and equipment based on the metallurgy.
- Review industry and CITGO experience with metallurgical failures and apply the lessons to the piping and equipment in the refinery.
- Provide analysis reports.
- Supports the metallurgical reviews with multiple departments upon the request
- Provide oversight, technical input and guidance to the inspectors.
- Working with unit inspectors, provide inspection analysis, reports and plans to the Manager of Reliability.
- Participate in the lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Provide specifications, evaluation, and selection of materials for equipment and piping.
