Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of security activities at the Lemont Refinery. The Security Manager oversees the contract security provider to ensure that management systems and procedures are in place to meet contract obligations and regulatory requirements. The Security Manager is responsible for the performance of the security provider, security equipment, security procedures and Facility Security planning. The Security Manager is the liaison with local law enforcement, Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security and other security related agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma with 10 years of job related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in Law Enforcement (Local, State or Federal) required
- Effective communication skills
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with federal regulations and outside agencies such as law enforcement, coast guard and Department of Homeland Security

- Lead and oversee the overall operations of the security contractor ensuring the safety and security of the personnel, building and refinery perimeters are maintained in a cost effective manner.
- Audit security contractor procedures and performance vs. same to validate adequacy, or to identify ares for improvement and require same to be expediently addressed.
- Initiate, conduct and lead investigations of security deviations or suspicious acts while working directly with refinery departments, local, state and federal officials as necessary due to magnitude and type of event.
- Develop, expand and sustain working relationships with the local, state, and federal agencies with a perspective of "making your friends before you need them". Coordinate drills that involve the facility and multiple outside agencies to establish open lines of communication and greater familiarization with refinery personnel and facilities.
- Acts as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and conducts the duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Facility Security Plan (FSP). In addition, maintain and update the FSP by conducing annual audits and drills to enhance the security of the facility.
- Ensure Security Vulnerability Assessments are completed and plans developed that implement corrective actions and improvement in plant security.
- Ensure effective procedures exist and are implemented for MARSEC Level security measures.
- Develop and implement appropriate procedures and management systems to effectively and efficiently secure the people, equipment, and perimeter of the facility. Keep abreast of new regulations and industry applications of same and incorporate the new requirements into the refinery security program and day-to-day security operations.
- Develop effective means to communicate pertinent security procedures and information to all employees, contractors and visitors.
- Provide key communication to the Refinery Leadership Team on security issues, breaches and developing regulation and industry practices.
- Develop and manage Lemont's security budgets of approximately $2,000,000 in a cost-effective manner.
