What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Worker position at CiTi BOCES?
CiTi BOCES has an opening for a full-time 1st shift custodial worker, working hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
This position involves routine and repetitive manual work that requires the efficient and economical performance of building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Sweep and mop floors and stairs
- Vacuum carpets and dust desks, woodwork, furniture, and other equipment
- Clean glass and wash windows, walls, blackboards, sinks, and other fixtures
- Polish furniture and metal furnishings
- Empty waste baskets, collect and dispose of rubbish, and replace liners
- Clear snow and ice from walks
- Mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves, and perform various other grounds-keeping tasks as assigned
- Deliver packages and messages
- Arrange chairs and tables and other equipment for special use of school buildings
- Repair window shades, replace light bulbs, soap, and towels
- Paint rooms and equipment and assist in making minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs
- Sanitize door handles, desk/table tops, clean bathrooms, restock toilet paper, paper towels, and soap supplies
Job Qualifications
- Civil Service eligibility and a valid driver's license are required
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
- Willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks
- Ability to get along well with others
