Job Description
CiTi BOCES seeks a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to support student engagement, address social and emotional needs, and foster a positive online learning environment.
This role involves collaborating with educators, parents, and students to ensure every student has the resources and support they need to succeed. The School Social Worker will work directly with parents and children, consult with school personnel, and serve as a referral source and liaison with community agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement in the virtual learning environment. Monitor student participation and provide interventions to support consistent attendance and active involvement.
- Counseling and Support: Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues. Offer crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Resource Coordination: Connect students and families with community resources and services, including mental health support, and other relevant programs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, school counselors, and parents to identify and address student needs. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in school social work and virtual education. Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Job Qualifications
- Masters degree in Social Work.
- Valid NYS licensure or certification as a School Social Worker.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCW) preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting, preferably in a virtual or online environment.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues, specifically with anxiety and school avoidance, educational systems, and community resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with virtual communication tools and learning management systems.
