Background & Position Summary
The American Airlines AAdvantage Co-Brand Product team sits within the U.S. Branded Cards North America business unit. The Citi/AAdvantage cobranded credit program is one of industry’s largest travel loyalty credit card programs. The Citi Product Management team partners with American Airlines to manage a suite of consumer and small business credit cards that use the airline’s loyalty program currency, travel assets, and marketing channels.
The VP, Program Management and Business Development role resides within the broader Citi AAdvantage Product Management team and is responsible for supporting the portfolio’s goals by creating new business opportunities through new and existing partnerships, as well as providing contract / negotiation related support. This requires a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and how business strategies impact KPIs and the P&L, in addition to strong partnership skills.
Key Responsibilities
The VP, Program Management and Business Development role will be responsible for:
- Analyzing key business terms for complex deal structures to size impacts to KPIs and P&L under tight timelines and then present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
- Collaborating with partners across matrix organization to define, size, and implement requirements across finance, operations, and technology for new and existing deals
- Supporting existing contract amendments / addendums and contract renewals / re-negotiations
- Leveraging customer and marketplace insights to identify consumer and small business needs that can be developed into requirements that will support business strategies
- Managing and leading pipeline of new data initiatives that create enhanced capabilities, new customer segments, and optimization of marketing strategies across all channels
- Educating internal teams on contractual terms and leading conversations on new business commitments to ensure contractual compliance across entire organization
Candidate Qualifications
- 7 years of work experience, with 2 years spent in business development, product management, or similar roles preferably in the financial services industry
- Deep understanding of KPIs with the ability to understand impacts that decisions can have on financial metrics and to be able to clearly articulate findings to all levels of stakeholders
- Experience with translating strategies into business requirements for different business functions such as marketing, risk, customer service centers, and technology
- Track record of being able to engage, lead, and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization to achieve results
- Self-starter who can operate with minimal guidance and handle uncertainty and ambiguity
- Strong analytical, project management, communication, and negotiation skills required
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
