About the Position:
Join the Credit Department at Citizens First Bank as a Credit Specialist! The Credit Specialist is responsible for conducting commercial credit investigations and analyzing credit information. The Credit Specialist maintains financial background data on current and potential customers and prepare credit evaluations for the use of Commercial Lenders. The Credit Specialist utilizes a financial spread program to analyze commercial financial statements and compiles loan request packages for transactions requiring higher-level approval, including those intended for the Executive Loan Committee and Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities of the Credit Specialist:
- Spreads and analyzes financial statements on commercial loan applicants and makes recommendations to loan officers
- Prepares summary reports and full analysis reports for Lenders and Loan Committee
- Maintains credit files to ensure that documentation and financial data remain current and in compliance with policies, loan agreements, and regulations
- Provides technical assistance to Lenders as requested and participates in meetings with existing and potential borrowers
- Has knowledge of Bank products and recognizes referral opportunities
- Prepares monthly or quarterly borrowing base certificates on certain loans and lines of credit as required by loan agreements
- Performs annual reviews on lines of credit and large loan relationships for approval by the Lender or other appropriate authority
Credit Specialist Requirements:
Minimum:
- Associate’s degree in business or finance plus three years of experience in an office or professional setting or seven years of banking experience in lieu of the degree.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with people and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to acquire detailed knowledge of department and Bank policies, practices, operations, and handle moderately complex tasks.
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to meet deadlines.
- Must have experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel at an advanced level.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business or two to three years of commercial credit analysis.
