Overview
The Camp Loyaltown Nursing Coordinator assists in the coordination and compliance of the camp’s Nursing Department. This role shares responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of nursing services in compliance with DOH, ACA, and Compass regulations, prioritizing the health and well-being of all camp participants.
Responsibilities
Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Performs ongoing quality assurance and compliance evaluations to enhance the effectiveness of the Nursing Department and provides findings/solutions to the Camp Nurse Manager and Camp Assistant Nurse Manager to support compliance and operational excellence at camp.
Collaborate with the Nurse manager /assistant nurse manager and address QA and compliance matters at camp.
Communicates with compliance personnel to ensure all policies and procedures are implemented in the health center.
Reviews medical incident reporting at camp, completes investigations, ensuring timely documentation and follow-up.
Reviews documentation provided by the Nurse Manager, including:
MARs (Medication Administration Records)
Follow-ups on missed medications
Medical records and wellness logs
Nursing communication logs
Daily camper health center visit follow-ups
Audits from DOH/ACA
Nursing schedules
Daily reports on medical concerns to camp administration
Other required documentation as per DOH, ACA, and OPWDD regulations
Reviews, updates, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to DOH, ACA, and Citizens agency guidelines.
Develops, updates, and provides training for Health Center staff during orientation and throughout camp sessions as needed.
Provides updates to the Nurse Manager on compliance and participates in administrative meetings when necessary.
Maintain data on camper hospitalizations for utilization review purposes.
Serves as an assistant to the nurse manager for mandated reporter to the Justice Center, reporting any reasonable suspicion of abuse, neglect, or hazardous work conditions, while adhering to agency incident policies and procedures.
Ensures workplace safety protocols are in place and followed by nursing staff.
Promotes and upholds the agency’s mission statement in all interactions.
Audits the program training requirements within the Health Center.
Performs additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Assists Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager in ensuring that minimum staffing requirements are met.
Qualifications
NYS Registered Nurse license
3 years’ experience in clinical nursing working with the developmentally disabled
Must have worked in a supervisory capacity.
Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an adult/child participant.
