General Description
The Aquatics Supervisor performs a variety of general administrative and first-line supervisory duties directly responsible for all phases of Aquatic operations, programming, and maintenance for the county's aquatic facility. Manages under limited supervision, the day-to-day safe operation, planning, maintenance, and supervision of the county pool including recreational, educational aquatic activities, maintaining proper water chemical balance, and promoting patron use of the pool facility. Directly supervises full-time regular and seasonal staff, including, but not limited to, lifeguards and swim instructors.
The schedule for this full-time position varies according to programs and classes and is located at the Bicentennial Park Pool in Crystal River, Florida.
Essential Functions
- Supervises, plans, and coordinates the work of assigned staff. Reviews and evaluates employee performance and completes performance evaluations. Counsels staff and initiates commendations or disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Performs a variety of general administrative and first-line supervisory duties to organize and coordinate the day-to-day safety, maintenance, operations, and services of the county aquatic facilities and provide related aquatic programs.
- Opens, closes, and secures assigned facility as directed.
- Prepares work schedules, assists in the development of worker skills by performing on-the-job training, conducts regular meetings, coordinates participation in off-site training as needed to assure technical competency of instructors.
- Supervises cleaning and repair of county aquatic facilities and related buildings and properties.
- Manages aquatic facilities budget including, but not limited to, making budget requests and supervises daily cash flow, inventory, and deposits.
- Performs routine lifeguard duties, swimming instructor, and staff trainer.
- Supervises facility operations to ensure compliance with state and federal operations and safety guidelines.
- Ensures proper training and certifying of personnel, monitors facility safety practices, pool water quality and chemical balances through sampling and testing, and overall quality of pool maintenance.
- Plans, develops, and implements year-round aquatic facility activities. Coordinates the scheduling of competitive teams, recreational swim team and school swim lessons. Creates schedules for swim instruction for all age groups.
- Strives to effectively develop and maintain harmonious relations with external business partners.
- Drives and / or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Performs related duties as required.
