What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy IV Technician position at Citrus Pharmacy?
Citrus Pharmacy is a Long Term Care closed-door pharmacy that services Skilled Nursing Facilities and is looking for a motivated and EXPERIENCED IV Pharmacy Technician. Must have at least 1 year of Sterile IV Compounding experience. Setting similar to Home Infusion pharmacies. Responsibilities include order entry, answering phones, replenishing IV emergency kits, cleaning IV room, sterile compounding, charting/completing worksheets and stocking shelves. Must be able to multitask and prioritize workflow.
Available Shifts:
- Initial TRAINING will be Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm (with a gradual transition to evening shift based on comfort level)
- AVAILABLE SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (4:00pm-12:30am) NIGHT PAY DIFFERENTIAL)
Starting Pay: $20.00 - $24.00/hour (pay rate based on LTC experience & Sterile Compounding experience) NIGHT and WEEKEND PAY DIFFERENTIAL
Essential Functions:
- Preparation and dispensing of IV therapies by ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques and compliance with USP 797 guidelines
- Maintain cleanroom in accordance with pharmacy policies
- Ensuring routine cleaning requirements are met, and supporting documentation is completed (technician will be responsible for daily cleaning of anteroom and clean room)
- Replenish IV emergency kits
- Charting and completing compound log sheet
· Data entry of prescription orders
· Answering phones
· Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
· Knowledge of 3rd party insurances such as Medicare Part D and Medi-Cal
· Place outbound calls to facilities to clarify orders as needed
· Other duties essential to pharmacy operations, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in order entry (LTC pharmacy experience preferred)
- Strong computer and typing skills
