What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Provider position at City and County of Broomfield?
Hires must be willing and available to work a regular morning schedule on a year-round basis. Additional afternoon/evening shifts may be available over the Summer (until approximately June). Child Watch at the Paul Derda Recreation Center is scheduled for various hours that may change based on the need of the department.
Schedule varies:
Monday – Friday: 7:45 AM – 12:45 PM, 3:45 PM – 6:45 PM
Saturday: 7:45 AM – 11:45 AM
Salary Range: $14.81 - $19.25/hour
This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of children placed in the care of the Recreation Services Department while the parents are participating in on-site recreation activities or classes.
- Independently monitor and supervise children who participate in the Recreation Services on-site child watch facilities and the Indoor Playground
- Ensure that the environment is safe and friendly
- Interact and play with children in activities that can include the following actions: running, reading, drawing, coloring, talking, walking and singing
- Check children in and out through the computer system
- Take out and pick up toys (up to 15 lbs.)
- Pick up and carry children as required (up to 20 lbs. frequently; up to 50 lbs. occasionally)
- Reasonable accommodation may be provided if individual is unable to lift 50 lbs.
- Change diapers as required
- Administer first aid treatment, providing emergency services when necessary
Training - 8th grade education or equivalent.
Experience - Prior experience working with or caring for children ages six months and over is preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: – Must be at least 16 years of age. Must possess or obtain American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification and CPR Certifications within 60 days of hire and maintain for continued employment. Applicants must, as a condition of employment, pass any or all of the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, background checks including local police check and sex-offender check.
Exert up to 50 lbs. Of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. Force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including a human body.
Must provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the mixture of ages participating in child watch.
Work hours depend on need.
Required to have a full range of physical movement.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including summer sun and temperatures, which may exceed 100 degrees.
Visual abilities including close, distant, depth, peripheral are required.
