The Preschool Aide assists with early childhood education and socialization skills for children 2-1/2 to 5 years old. Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of childcare related tasks of routine difficulty related to the City and County’s Recreation Services function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.
Salary Range: $16.05 - $21.71 /hour
Please note: This is not a summer position. The schedule during the school year is 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with a monthly meeting from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Employees are scheduled for no more than 28 hours per week. Positions may be scheduled to work at both the Paul Derda Recreation Center and the Broomfield Community Center.General Duties:
Assists in the planning and organizing of activities in the areas of crafts, sports, games, special events, and field trips.
Assists children in socialization and learning skills.
Monitors the safety of activities.
Assists in maintaining a controlled classroom environment.
Assist with daily paperwork, time-logs, and incident reports.
Assists supervisor with classes, workshops and activities for participants engaged in recreation programs.
Independently monitor class participants to ensure proper use of any equipment and proper technique.
Assists in maintaining the equipment to insure safety and cleanliness.
Assists in the compliance with State Child Care Licensing regulations under the direction of the supervisor.
Helps to provide a safe and creative learning environment.
Training – High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience – Three months experience in a structured Preschool or child care setting.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check, child abuse and sex-offender registry check, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must possess or obtain American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification and CPR Certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain for continued employment.

Required to have a full range of physical movement.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including summer sun and temperatures, which may exceed 100 degrees.
