What We Offer
This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work at least 10 hours per week and no more than 39 hours per week. The starting pay for this position is set at $18.81 per hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On‐call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. Although these positions are flexible, they are year-round, and instructors will typically work 20-30 hours per week. Core hours for programming typically occur Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. During the summer months (mid-June to mid-August), core hours for programming shift earlier and are typically 11:00 a.m -5:00 p.m. Typical program hours align with local DPS school schedules.
Location
In this position you can expect to work on site at the Tennis Facilities in multiple recreation centers around the City and County of Denver.

Denver Parks & Recreation is looking for tennis enthusiasts who are passionate about grassroots tennis to join the team. Instruction is based on group tennis lessons focused on providing the highest quality of service for the residents of the City & County of Denver. Utilizing a variety of tennis courts and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area, offering thousands of participants the experience of a lifetime!

Tennis Assistants:
- Help facilitate tennis programs and activities at courts throughout Denver for spring, summer and fall
- Assistant in youth tennis lessons, coaching a junior tennis team and other types of events
- Individuals will participate in youth tennis instruction such as in skills clinics, camps and/or other types of tennis activities
- Participate in additional opportunities such as helping at tournaments and supporting pickleball programs
- Motivate participants through encouragement and positive language
- Assist with program set up and breakdown as well as additional equipment maintenance tasks
Tennis Assistants begin the season with a Coaches Workshop that provides our coaches with expanded information on tennis instruction and prepares Tennis Professionals for individual and group lesson planning as well as season expectations.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Experience in playing tennis at an intermediate competitive level or higher
- Three (3) to six (6) months of experience instructing tennis preferred
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Flexible schedule and punctuality
- Current CPR/First Aid Certifications
