What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $84,604.00 - $139,597.00. Our starting salary range is $84,604.00 - $112,100.00 / year, based on experience and education.

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a city site and / or in the community several days a week. In this position you can expect to work on-site two days per week at Republic Plaza at 370 17th Street, Denver, CO 80202 with occasional evening / weekends, off-site meetings / events. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You’ll Do
At the Department of Housing Stability, we are committed to support Denver residents as healthy, housed and connected. We invest resources, create policy, and partner with various organizations to help keep residents in the homes that they already live in, quickly resolve an experience of homelessness, and connect residents to new housing opportunities. To support these efforts, the department helps to :
Stabilize residents at risk of involuntary displacement and connect residents to housing resources such as home repairs, rent and utility assistance, and legal support. This work is led by our Homelessness Resolution and Housing Stability Division.Support residents experiencing a crisis and connect them to housing, shelter and other services to get stabilized quickly. This work is led by our Homelessness Resolution and Housing Stability Division.Create and preserve existing affordable housing and connect residents at any income level to new housing opportunities through programs such as down-payment assistance or counseling services. This work is led by our Housing Opportunity Division.Support financial services, contracting and procurement, data analysis and strategic planning, administrative resources, and communications across the housing continuum. This work is led by our Operations Division.The Community Engagement Officer is part of our Operations Division.
We are seeking a highly professional, relational, and knowledgeable individual to serve in the role of Community Engagement Officer to lead community engagement efforts. This highly organized, team-oriented and flexible individual will lead the crucial functions of coordinating the department’s high visibility community engagement activities that help inform HOST’s investment, programmatic and policy decisions. The department has two engagement positions that will share the duties of engaging directly with people experiencing homelessness and housing instability, as well as housed residents, businesses, and other community organizations and partners. These roles may also assist with government affairs duties as needed.
Specific duties of the Community Engagement Officers will include :
Lead and implement HOST’s community engagement strategy supporting the Housing Opportunity, Housing Stability, and Homelessness Resolution teams, including organizing meetings or other engagement opportunities with stakeholders. Establish standards / protocol for all HOST community meetings; work closely with other staff to ensure the department is most effectively engaging with community, including impacted communities and other stakeholders.Outreach to and engage with residents, businesses, philanthropic and community organizations, and partners to raise awareness about what the city is doing to address housing instability and homelessness, to be transparent and accountable for the funding our department receives, increase awareness of and / or participation in housing stability and affordable housing services and programs, and to provide opportunities to engage with and support our department’s and our partners’ work.Outreach to stakeholders to get feedback and input on how our programs are working, what gaps there may be, how we can improve, and to help inform policy and program developmentDraft and give presentations and create other materials to help connect with and inform community members and partners, including producing content for websites, newsletters and social media. Attend and present at existing community meetings or create new opportunities to engage with the communities we serve, with an emphasis on equity and inclusion and focus on historically underserved populations.Identify and develop relationships with influencers and trusted messengers in the community to build trust and authentic engagement.Help build connections around common problems and solutions between those who are housed and those who are not.Support executive management and the Housing Opportunity, Housing Stability, and Homelessness Resolutions teams with community engagement activity, including briefings, preparing correspondence, and coaching.Serve as staff coordinator supporting community advisory meetings, ensuring key support functions are fulfilled (scheduling, correspondence, agenda / minutes preparation, etc.).Assist with government affairs as needed.About You

Education Requirement : Education requirement : Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).Experience Requirement : Five (5) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. (This does not include clerical experience.)Education / Experience Equivalency : One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
