The Department of Public Safety (DOS) unifies all the agencies tasked with ensuring Denver is the safest and most welcoming city in the nation. Denver's Public Safety Department includes Denver Police, Denver Fire, Denver 911, Denver Sheriff, Community Corrections, and Public Safety Youth Programs. DOS also oversees the Public Safety Cadet Program.
The Financial Services Division of the Department of Public Safety is seeking a Fiscal Administrator to provide financial management services within our Accounts Receivable and Special Revenue Fund programs.
The annual salary for this position is between $78,337 - $129,256 pending education and experience.
This position is located at 1331 Cherokee St, Denver, CO 80204. Office hours are 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm Monday-Friday. Following a training period, a flexible start time and some hybrid work will be available.
As the Fiscal Administrator, duties will include :
- Serve as the primary Fiscal Administrator of the Crime Prevention and Control Commission (CPCC) program which develop strategies and initiatives for alternatives to sentencing and development of a data-driven criminal justice system.
- Manage the departments accounts receivable functions to include account reconciliation, cash handling, and payment tracking.
- Participate in the development of short-term and long-range planning initiatives and serve as a liaison with other departmental officials, community groups, and other units.
- Develop, modify, and implement policies and procedures that impact business operations and administrative activities.
- Assist with the review of financial, cost, or general ledger data to identify accounting data problems, errors in coding or trends in revenues / expenditures and assists in the implementation of corrective action.
- Perform accounting tasks for grants and capital projects, including the division budget, expenditures, journal entries, financial tracking, and monitoring.
- Develop and execute studies and research within the key functional areas and prepare detailed reports outlining findings and conclusions and develop actionable recommendations to address areas of concern or improvement. Oversee the implementation of approved solutions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Assess team performance, ensure compliance with laws and policies, and help establish processes and controls to maintain compliance.
- Manage contracts by drafting RFPs, organizing evaluation committees, monitoring expenses, assessing performance, and ensuring compliance with contract terms.
