The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Chief Engineer's Office is seeking to fill an Equipment Operator Trainer position based in Kapolei. Under the general direction of the Driver Improvement Coordinator II, this position plans, develops, organizes, maintains records, and conducts certified training program in heavy construction equipment maintenance and operation, and special and new equipment certification program for the Department and other City agencies.
Special Work Requirements: Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during civil defense emergencies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Successful completion of an approved construction equipment operator apprenticeship training program; OR equivalent training and/or experience of comparable scope, which shall have demonstrated proficiency in the operation of various types and sizes of construction equipment, including cranes, large crawler-mounted bulldozers, graders, and backhoe and loader units.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid Hawaii State driver's license reflecting the appropriate commercial driver’s license (CDL) with proper endorsements, as applicable; a current State Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examination certificate; and a current Certificate of Fitness for Crane and Hoist Operator.LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
CURRENT VACANCY REQUIRES:
At the time of application:
- Valid CDL Class A or B; and
- Current State Department of Transportation medical examination certificate.
Prior to appointment:
- Certificate of Fitness for Crane and Hoist Operator.
Prior to completion of probation:
- American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent.
NOTE: The above certificates and licenses must be maintained on a current basis thereafter as a condition of employment.
