Position Information
Are you an animal lover? Do you want to be paid to care for animals but do not have the training to do so? The Department of Enterprises, Honolulu Zoo is looking for a detail-oriented animal lover to prepare meals for the zoo animals. Take charge of the Commissary area to ensure that all meals are prepared according to animal diet cards in a clean and sanitized kitchen area. Don't forget that safety comes first while preparing meals because you will be using kitchen knives, scales, food processor, and commercial meat slicer to prepare meals. Use a forklift to move heavy items to ensure the Zoo's food supply is fully stocked. Other duties include assisting the zoo visitors with any questions and inquiries they may have along with other duties as required.
Special Work Requirements:
May be required to work evening, weekends, and holidays. May work in the walk-in freezer for periods of time. Handles knives to cut fruits and vegetables.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid forklift certification (Class V) prior to completion of probation. (Note: Such certification must be maintained on a current basis while allocated to this class)
