The Honolulu Board of Water Supply, is looking to hire one (1) Chemist for their Chemical Laboratory located in Honolulu. This position supervises day-to-day laboratory activities relating to the chemical examination of water samples; assists in planning and directing the overall functions and programs of the laboratory, supervises and/or conducts special and complex studies and research projects; and performs other related duties as required.
Special Working Conditions: Exposure to chemicals, noxious fumes, hazardous and toxic substances while using appropriate safety gear. Climb, walk, and/or crawl in confined conditions and/or remote areas while carrying equipment/samples of approximately 50 lbs.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with major work in chemistry.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four years of professional (post-bachelor's degree, non-clerical) chemistry experience in a chemical, physical, analytical, industrial or related laboratory.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of chemistry; the methods and techniques of chemical laboratory analysis; the uses and care of laboratory apparatus and equipment; waterworks chemistry and its supporting literature; practices and procedures utilized in recording, assembling and compiling scientific observations and statistical data; and the ability to conduct standard and special chemical examinations of water samples and waterworks materials and make adaptations to methods and procedures as required; perform research work; make laboratory preparations and computations; and keep records and prepare reports of laboratory procedures, observations and results of tests.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (Type 3/automobile), as required. The current vacancy has this requirement.
