LIQUOR CONTROL INVESTIGATOR I (SR-16) [3 vacancies]

Inspects premises where intoxicating liquors are manufactured, sold and/or consumed and enforces applicable State and local liquor laws, rules and regulations; investigates apparent or suspected liquor law violations and prepares reports on findings; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancies:
There are three (3) vacancies with the 
Honolulu Liquor Commission. May work day or night shift, weekends and possibly holidays. General work hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. or Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., however, shift hours may vary. There may be overtime required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of inspectional or investigative work experience relating to the enforcement of laws, ordinances and/or rules and regulations.

Such work experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques of inspection and investigation; the ability to understand, interpret, and explain laws, rules, and regulations; the ability to gather, verify, and evaluate facts and evidence; and the ability to prepare reports.

Possession of the required amount of experience will NOT in and of itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. The overall experience must be of sufficient scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position.

SubstitutionAn associate's degree or a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice (or closely-related major field) will substitute for the required two (2) years of inspectional or investigative work experience relating to the enforcement of laws, ordinances, and/or rules and regulations.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION

To determine employment suitability for the position of Liquor Control Investigator I, the Department of Human Resources will review criminal convictions, dismissals from employment, separations from military service under other than honorable conditions, and driving record.

Due to the nature of the position, selectees are required to be fingerprinted as part of the employment suitability review. Criminal history record information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center will be reviewed.
