Each summer, RPD operates Camp Mather, a rustic family campground located near Yosemite National Park, approximately 3 hours east of San Francisco. Each week, about 500 campers enjoy a week-long stay at Camp Mather; enjoying a full range of recreation activities such as a supervised swimming pool and a lake for water activities, supervised recreation programs, hiking, and evening campfire entertainment. Guests stay in cabins, and enjoy 3 delicious meals each day, served cafeteria style with a full salad bar and excellent service.

Job Description
Under supervision, performs a variety of tasks in connection with the preparation, storage and serving of foodstuffs, including dietary foods; may supervise a small group of Food Service Workers in an assigned food service activity; ensures that assigned dining and kitchen areas and equipment are kept clean and in good repair; and performs related duties as required.
Examples Of Essential Duties
Employees are expected to follow the policies as described in the Camp Mather 2025 Workplace Policies and Expectations. Failure to follow these policies may result in termination.
Working Conditions at Camp Mather
Housing and Meals:during employment, FREE meals and housing is provided to camp employees. Camp staff live in shared housing with other camp staff.
Nature of work:Includes working both indoors and outdoors, exposure to sun, snow, rain, high/low temperatures, potential wildfire smoke and will regularly encounter bugs and insects.
Work Schedule:The work week is typically six (6) days, comprise of small shifts throughout the day. However, kitchen staff may be required to work an alternate work schedule consisting of10 – 12 hour shifts with appropriate breaks (limited to40 hours in a work week), during the high season to accommodate the needs of the department. Shifts may also include weekends and evenings.
Work Location:Camp Matheris located inthe High Sierra near Yosemite National Park about 3 hours east of San Francisco.
Transportation:Camp Mather employees are responsible for securing their own transportation to and from Camp Mather. Parking is available for personal vehicles.
Cell Phone & Internet:Camp Mather has VERY limited cellular and Internet/Wi-Fi services available on its grounds.
Kitchen staff will be working with various cleaning chemicals as part of the position requirements.
Available Work Assignments:Staff will live onsite from April 19th to September 26th.
Appointment Type: This position is a temporary exempt, as-needed appointment. This position is seasonal and will not result in an eligible list for a permanent civil service position. Employees serve at the will of the Appointing Officer.
Kitchen staff will be working with various cleaning chemicals as part of the position requirements.

Job Description

- Supervises and sets up food counters and tables; performs tray line activities such as serving food portions, checking trays and collecting and tallying meal tickets.
- Assists in the preparation and serving of meals for special diet cases; works in special diet stations; prepares baby formulas; uses specialized equipment connected with dietary services.
- Supervises and works in a vegetable room, cleaning and otherwise preparing vegetables for cooking by hand or machine; replenishes food supplies; cleans and services various machines, tools and equipment used in the food preparation process.
- Participates in the cleaning of dining and kitchen areas, including the washing of dishes, pots, pans and other utensils.
