Position Description
Temporary, part-time pool position in Asian American Studies. Position requires subject expertise to teach Ethnic Studies.
Job Duties
1. The assignment may include teaching one or more of the following courses: ASAM 1, Introduction to Asian American Studies; ASAM 6, Asian American Stories; ASAM 8, Filipino American Community; ASAM 10, Asian American Popular Culture; ASAM 20, Asian American Experience Since 1820; ASAM 22, Community Issues & Leadership; ASAM 23 SAM 23, Asian Americans and American Ideals and Institutions; ASAM 27, Asian American Race Relations; ASAM 30, Asian American Issues Through Film; ASAM 35, Asian American Women; ASAM 40, Chinese American Community; ASAM 42, Intro to Asian American Studies: Southeast Asian American Experiences
2. Teach day, evening, weekend and/or online classes. Teach classes at more than one site location.
3. Participate in a positive, collaborative manner in departmental and college functions including but not limited to grading, record keeping, designing written lesson plans, classroom activities; and develop course materials, SLO assessments, curricula techniques and activities to support student success and retention.
4. Evaluate and report student outcomes for courses taught each semester.
5. Participate in the development and furthering of departmental and college-wide goals.
6. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.
7. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.
8. Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
2. Earned Master’s Degree in Asian American Studies from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies from an accredited institution AND earned Bachelor’s Degree in Asian American Studies from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT .
