Job Title: Planner II

Salary Range: $63,232 - $68,994 annually
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Planner II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have mid-level experience in urban planning, land use, and environmental planning. The Planner II will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and developing plans and policies to guide the growth and development of our community.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on various planning issues, including land use, transportation, housing, and environmental sustainability
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans and policies to guide the growth and development of the community
- Work with community members to gather input and feedback on planning initiatives
- Prepare and present reports, presentations, and recommendations to decision-makers, including planning commissions, city councils, and other governing bodies
- Review and evaluate development proposals to ensure compliance with zoning regulations and other planning requirements
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate planning efforts and ensure consistency with overall community goals
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in urban planning and apply this knowledge to planning initiatives
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals to support planning projects
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, business administration, project management or a related field OR
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data from various sources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to diverse audiences
- Administrative skills to prepare reports, spreadsheets, agendas, and meeting minutes.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal planning regulations and requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
- Interpret and apply applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations related to zoning and land use.
