What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTRICIAN I position at City of Amarillo, Texas?
SUMMARY
Under general supervision of Electrician II, this position performs routine installation and maintenance work on electrical equipment. Repairs, replaces, relocates, and installs equipment in accordance with National Electrical Code and adhering to all pertinent safety practices and regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trouble shoots, maintains and repairs electrical systems.
- Responds as directed to electrical problems and emergencies in other City departments.
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces all lighting in or on City property.
- Performs electrical service work on control circuits, motor starters, heating and air conditioning controls, etc., with voltages ranging from low voltage devices to 480 volt.
- Installs and connects transformers and all related equipment.
- Investigates and repairs discrepancies.
- Monitors for unsafe conditions or improper equipment use and take the necessary steps to rectify.
- Install and replaces equipment.
- Reads wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Maintains good relations with all City departments as well as supply houses and other outside contacts.
- Performs other electrical and non-electrical duties that may be assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
M I NIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of experience in electrical maintenance with motor control theory, electrical troubleshooting, and new electrical installation. City of Amarillo Journeyman Electrician's License preferred, Valid Texas Driver's License required.
