What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER position at City of Amarillo?
SALARY: $19.50 per hour
SUMMARY
This position performs administrative and supervisory work in directing the use of the Civic Center Complex Production Department and equipment. Work includes assisting with the hiring, training and supervision of part-time and contract employees that make up the Production crew; overseeing payroll; purchasing; maintaining equipment; working closely with Event staff; and assisting the Production Manager with event development.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with supervision of the Civic Center Complex Production department.
- Contacts clients to discuss and arrange production set-ups, equipment use, and outside contractors.
- Advises clients on building technical specifications, production crew requirements, and safe operation of Civic Center Complex equipment.
- Supervises and schedules both part-time and temporary staff.
- Assists with training, scheduling, and supervision of an adequate number of qualified production technicians.
- Supervises the use of all performance spaces, flyrail systems, and sports groups related equipment.
- Prepares production technical services invoices.
- Prepares and submits bi-weekly payroll of part-time staff payroll.
- Maintains all Complex professional audio systems, theatrical lighting systems, and ETC enabled lighting systems.
- Maintains hands-on profile at assigned concerts, theatrical events and other events using production equipment and/or staff.
- Makes recommendations that impact the department budget.
- Assists with managing the budget within the department.
- Assists with the preparation of specifications and the purchase and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Completes safety inspections in accordance with building policy, City codes, fire codes, and State and Federal laws.
- Performs research and prepares reports as requested.
- Recommends equipment needs to improve client services and the facility.
- Maintains event files with other event staff.
- Develops and maintains an equipment inventory system for all production related equipment including lighting, sound, staging, hand tools, and ice maintenance equipment.
- Develops and maintains an Access Database, including part time staff, clients and events.
- Provides quality customer service to lessees, patrons and guests.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of three years professional experience in theatrical and technical settings, sporting events, theatrical lighting, concerts, etc.. Valid Texas Driver’s License required. Must have a reliable means of transportation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of theatrical and concert production, lighting design, stage management, electricity, and trades involved in staging shows, meetings, banquets, and exhibitions.
- Ability to plan, delegate, organize and supervise the work of others.
- Basic knowledge of accounting, supervisory and management principles.
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.
- Ability to operate highly technical computer applications, such as GIS or CAD.
- Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing and accounting.
- Ability to operate Office equipment including fax, copier, and personal computer.
- Ability to operate forklifts, Genie lifts, ice resurfacer and edgers, hand tools, theatrical fly rail systems, professional audio and lighting equipment.
- Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to supervise employees using or repairing heavy or complex machinery.
- Ability to work long hours, split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays is required.
