SALARY: $21.63 per hour
SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Compliance Coordinator, the Transit Planner is responsible for supporting the planning, development, and execution of transit projects and services. This role involves assisting with long-term and short-term planning, conducting data analysis, preparing reports, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in developing, reviewing and implementing transit plans, route schedules and service adjustments.
- Conduct ridership analyses to support decision making and optimization of services.
- Analyze and interpret data on transit operations, passenger surveys, and performance metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate transit-related projects from conception through execution, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and community stakeholders to support the implementation of new services or infrastructure.
- Engage with community members, transit riders, and stakeholders to gather input and feedback on transit services and development plans.
- Plans and executes outreach events to engage the community, gather input, and promote public transportation services.
- Assist in organizing public hearings, community workshops, and other outreach activities related to transit planning.
- Respond to inquiries from elected officials, community groups, and the public regarding transit services and projects.
- Prepare technical reports, project updates, and presentations for internal leadership, external stakeholders, and public forums.
- Work closely with transit staff, Planner I/Scheduler, and other departments to ensure cohesive planning efforts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in any field and one (1) year of related professional experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration. Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
- Group facilitation skills for use with public workshops and meetings with external customers.
- Ability to research, analyze, generate data, and formulate conclusions related to urban planning and/or community and economic development.
- Ability to review and understand technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to verbally or in writing convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency with office type software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or similar programs).
- General knowledge of professional office protocols, policies, and equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is done indoors at a desk. Field studies and surveys require occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. Attends and facilitates public meetings and workshops, many of which occur in the evening.
