SUMMARY
The Peer Reintegration Employment Partnership (PREP) Academy program is a 12-week, transitional employment program that aims to prepare individuals with significant employment barriers to join or rejoin Amarillo’s workforce.
This impactful leadership position is responsible for overseeing the administration, finances, fundraising, business operations, and strategic plan of the program. This position requires a dynamic, mission-driven leader who is passionate about leading hands-on operations, fostering growth, as well as developing all parts of the program.
The position is grant funded and renewal is contingent upon the availability of funds. Grant funded positions are typically limited in term. The end date of the grant does not guarantee employment for the duration of the grant. You may be eligible to apply/transfer to an existing vacancy that is equivalent to the grant funded position if an equivalent position is available.
NOTE: Employees in the Community Development Department and their family members are prohibited from participating or receiving benefit from the City of Amarillo’s programs funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and other state and federally funded programs and grants.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, actively manage, and direct the program operations and fundraising to attain continued sustainability, growth and success.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the PREP program and ensure its overall success.
- Provide direct management and supervision of the PREP program employees.
- Manage, motivate, and oversee ongoing employee development and performance.
- Drive development and fundraising efforts.
- Represent the PREP Academy at networking events and other public engagements.
- Initiate, cultivate, and extend relationships with the program’s portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate supporters.
- Safeguard the organization’s financial stability and sustainability by maintaining healthy cash flow and adequate reserves.
- Adhere to all grant expenditure requirements and COA purchasing guidelines.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained.
- Actively engage in complex fiscal management through hands-on budgetary development and oversight.
- Ensure that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
- Project, monitor, and approve program expenditures within the established budget. Ensure invoices and payments are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Oversight of all grant reporting data for the PREP Academy.
- Create and submit required monthly grant performance reports.
- Coordinate and lead monthly budget reviews and financial performance activities with Community Development management.
- Prepare accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.
- Effectively represent the program and promote a positive organizational image to ensure adequate community representation.
- Continually foster a culture that encourages collaboration between internal and external departments and recognizes positive contributions.
- Develop and manage comprehensive outreach/working relationship with community stakeholders.
- Attend and participate in clinical and administrative meetings as deemed appropriate and necessary for the job.
- Must carry a cell phone and be accessible when in the field.
- Perform other job- and department-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, Organizational Leadership, Social Work, Public Administration, or comparable field required. Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum 2 years of program management experience.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Organized, flexible, and able to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent proofreading and editing capabilities.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to operate computers for data entry and other record keeping as required.
- Must be comfortable working in the community.
- May require after-hour work to attend meetings, finish projects, and meet deadlines.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle.
- Will work Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm.
