Job Summary
Perform routine professional financial accounting duties that require the application of standard accounting theories, principles, and techniques in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Maintains accounting controls and financial security by following policies and procedures and internal controls.
Exercises independent judgment in selecting most pertinent guidelines, interpret precedents, adapt standard practices to differing situations and recommend alternative actions. Consults with higher level accounting staff for advice and assistance and are not typically responsible for the more complex accounting functions.
Essential Job Functions

Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, schedules and reports including completion of accounting entries and reconciliation of accounts and statements.
Verifies accounts and reconciles and analyzes entries, transactions, ledgers and reports and maintains filing system of accounting data, such as canceled checks, bank statements and other documentation.
Develops or assists in developing non-standard reports and statements, such as detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts, trend analysis and projections.
Identifies and reconciles any discrepancies between cash and credit statements and the accounting system, compiles supporting documentation, and creates records of corrective actions.
Tracks and maintains various ledgers, registers, and journals in accordance with established policies and procedures, allocates funds to appropriate accounts, verifies deposits with bank statements, and records financial information in the accounting system.
Prepares and processes routine invoices into the accounting system for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and internal billing transactions while working with stakeholders to ensure timeliness and accuracy of payments.
Works with both internal and external customers to respond to inquiries, and provide general information, and assistance regarding accounting information and transactions, which includes the status of accounts, payments, issuance of checks, and cleared checks.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standardized financial practices.
Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local applicable laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Knowledge of principles and practices of customer service; modern financial record keeping and bookkeeping and office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and functions of a variety of office automation software, (e.g., database, spreadsheet, work processing, presentation, etc.).
Skill in problem-solving and decision-making, mathematics and arithmetic computations related to maintaining, compiling and reviewing statistical or financial records.
Skill in the use of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar.
Skill in providing a high-level of customer service.
Ability to prepare, maintain and reconcile various complex financial, accounting payroll, statistical auditing and numerical records.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Analyze, calculate, consolidate, reconcile and interpret accounting data and identify errors.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, two (2) years of prior work related. experience will substitute for formal education.
