General Description
Responsible for supervision, interaction, and safety/well-being of Summer Camp participants ages 9 - 14 throughout a variety of outdoor and indoor activities at Camp Wewa. Work is performed under the supervision of the Day Camp Coordinator in accordance with established methods, schedules, and procedures.

Work requires constant public contact, use of the telephone, reading, writing, typing, very frequent walking, sitting, standing, swimming, and occasional lifting of 40 lbs., bending, stooping, running, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead. Works frequently in extreme weather.
JOB LOCATION
Primarily located at Camp Wewa, 221 S. Binion Road, Apopka, FL 32703. May work at any City owned buildings, parks, grounds and recreation facilities. All off-site locations and facilities utilized as part of the City's participation or involvement in an event, activity or job assignment.

Essential Job Functions
- Represents City at assigned program sites and field trips;
- Responsible for general welfare and safety Summer Camp participants.
- Setup and breakdown a variety of camp activities, to include sports, arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing/kayaking, archery, fishing, and other related activities.
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate supervision of assigned campers/participants.
- Continually interacts with campers/participants to ensure a safe and fun environment is maintained;
- Participates in daily camp activities and weekly trips including swimming, hiking, sporting games, archery, climbing, canoeing/kayaking, and other children's activities as scheduled;
- Reports any hazards or issues to a Supervisor immediately;
- Assists with set-up and clean-up of recreation events and programming;
- Promotes safe work practices and ensures compliance with City safety policies;
- Interacts effectively with fellow employees, program participants, supervisors, professionals and the general public;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
- Ability to interact effectively with the public, agencies, and staff at all levels.
- Ability to work well with a variety of age groups.
- Ability to work continually through the Summer Camp schedule.
- Ability to work flexible hours (to include potentially nights and weekends)
- Ability to deal with stressful conditions in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to perform various job tasks in all weather conditions
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and the public.
- High school graduate, or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience working with children in either a summer camp or classroom setting is preferred.
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- A variety of recreation and sports equipment: includes, but is not limited to; athletics, arts and crafts, drama, target sports, water sports, canoes and kayaks, and nature and ecological activities.
- Office related equipment such as phones, computers and copiers, as well as communication related equipment such as portable mobile radios.
