GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair and / or replacement of wastewater lift station pumps, mechanical equipment, associated piping, structures and related equipment in the City's wastewater lift stations. The objective is to perform all duties in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following essential functions represent the primary duties of this position but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of responsibilities. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on lift station equipment, piping and structures.
- Repairs and / or replaces lift station motors, pumps and associated equipment. Repairs and / or replaces lift station piping and structures.
- Assists the Electrician or Instrumentation Technician in repairs and / or replacements of lift station electrical motor panels or SCADA telemetry units.
- Correctly diagnoses lift station problems and be able to institute proper repair procedures.
- Operates and maintains equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Diagnoses SCADA generated reports on status of individual lift stations.
- Operates truck mounted crane in the removal and placement of lift station pumps and piping.
- Operates a vactor truck for the cleaning and maintenance of lift stations.
- Utilizes the following personal protective equipment and tools : safety goggles, hearing protection, safety suit, gloves and rubber boots, blower, portable gas detector, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), respirator, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, power roto-rooter / sewer snake, mud-hog pump, electric pump, cutting torch, vactor truck, backhoe, manhole cover puller. Operates City vehicle on and off road. Use lawn equipment for beautification projects.
- Respond to emergency call while on-call assignment.
- Disassemble ARV and clean out anything that will prevent it from functioning. Clean out wells, lines, and valves with a pressure washer.
- Inspect generators, conduct oil checks, survey for leaks, refuel, check breakers, insect coolant levels, check / replace batteries, as needed.
- Conforms to confined space entry procedures and the use of safety equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatuses are required per City of Apopka safety procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience are in a relevant and related field.

JOB LOCATION
All City owned buildings, parks, grounds and recreation facilities. Any off-site locations and facilities utilized as part of the City's participation or involvement in an event, activity or job assignment.
