The purpose of the class is to learn to maintain Lift Stations. The class is responsible for learning to schedule and / or perform preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and reports. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed under general supervision. Weekend, holiday and after-hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies.
Technician "C" - $20.33 - $29.48 per hour
This class should have a general knowledge of scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and reports. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed; follow work methods and sequences under general supervision. Weekend, holiday and after-hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies.
Technician "B" - $21.99 - $31.89 per hour
This class should have thorough knowledge of scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and reports. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Weekend, holiday and after-hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies.
Technician "A" - $24.73 - $35.88 per hour
This class is responsible for overseeing scheduling or performing preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and reports. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences.
Essential Job Functions
Apprentice

Maintains lift station facility and grounds including mowing grass, cleaning area of trash and debris, and other maintenance.

Minimum Requirements
Apprentice
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent at time of hire. TTC approved certification within 18 months of hire (City can provide training, but preferred at time of hire). Confined Space Entry Certification within 18 months of hire (City can provide training, but preferred at time of hire). Must obtain a Class C Wastewater Collections Certification within 18 months of hire. Employee must live within a 20-mile radius of the city limits of Leesburg due to on-call rotation requirement.
Each level below requires a high school, GED, and formal training, special courses, or self-educated equivalent to satisfying completion of one year of college educated or specialized advanced training in Wastewater Collections. Must live within a 20-mile radius of the city limits of Leesburg due to on-call rotation requirement. May mentor and assist in training of less experienced operations staff. Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices. Minimum requirements are as follows :
Technician "C"
Requires 2080 hours of experience in wastewater and / or Lift Stations. Minimum one year of mechanical maintenance experience. Minimum one year of experience in troubleshooting electrical controls type problems and working with electrical components i.e. starters, relays, phase monitors, etc. Requires Confined Space Entry Competency Training Certificate. Requires Wastewater Collection Certificate C. Requires MOT approved certification. Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Technician "B"
Requires 6,240 hours of experience in wastewater and / or Lift Stations. Minimum three years or more of mechanical maintenance experience. Minimum three years or more experience in troubleshooting electrical controls type problems and working with electrical components i.e. starters, relays, phase monitors, etc. Requires Confined Space Entry Competency Training. Requires MOT approved certification. Requires Wastewater Collections Certificate B. Backflow Tester Certification within 18 months of hire. Must obtain a valid State of Florida Class B CDL drivers permit with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of continued employment.

Requires Wastewater Collections Certificate A. Requires Backflow Tester Certification. Requires MOT approved certification. Must possess a valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver's license with tanker endorsement and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Must obtain a valid State of Florida Class A CDL drivers permit with tanker endorsement and no restrictions within 6 months of hire and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of continued employment.

PTO Sell Back program : Employees are eligible to sell PTO time back to the City, a maximum of 2 times per fiscal year for a total of 160 hours. Employees can only sell back as much PTO time as they have actually used in the previous 12 months. Employees covered by a CBA may sell time a maximum established by their written bargaining agreement.
Computer Purchase : The City will finance the employee's purchase of an approved computer system up to $1,000.00. Total of loan divided by 39 payroll deductions.
Fitness Programs : The City will pay 50% payment of the monthly fee for the employee and spouse for one fitness center each. Participating centers are : Not the Norm Crossfit, Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, and Infinity Fitness.
Safety Shoes : The City will pay up to $150.00 per year for the cost of one pair of approved safety shoes / boots for those positions requiring safety shoes / boots.
