GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This entry level position assists in clerical support duties for Building Division staff. Work is carried out under the guidance and direction of the Building Official.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following essential functions represent the primary duties of this position but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of responsibilities. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Assists in reviewing building permit applications for proper documentation and issuing permits. Reviews permits for processing.
- Processing payments : Operates cash register, maintains daily cash report with record of all monies received by division; handles cash, and balances out cash drawer. Creates invoices.
- Assists in maintaining files, inspection records and related data in an organized manner.
- Prepares various types of correspondence, reports and memoranda.
- Provides assistance and information to the public and others; must be part of a team operation.
- Schedules inspections and provides results, as requested.
- Prepares letters, reports, memoranda, and various other documents from rough draft.
- Maintains office files, records, computer data files, in a neat and organized manner.
- Provides support at the permit counter; issuing permits and providing verbal and written information to the public.
- Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience are in a relevant and related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
JOB LOCATION
Located in the Building Division office in City Hall. Some travel to post office, meetings and seminars, will be required.

Salary : $37,440 - $58,240
