What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Maintenance I - Parks position at City of Apple Valley?
The Seasonal Park Worker performs tasks consistent for the improvement of the park users experience and the visual improvement of the City of Apple Valley. Position requires manual labor and routine equipment operation for grounds and facility related maintenance. Duties include but not limited to: mowing, cleaning/maintaining facilities, snow removal and trash collection.
- Mowing and trimming of parks.
- Snow removal and plowing.
- Athletic field maintenance and preparation: grooming of infields, pitching mound maintenance, painting of soccer and football fields, chalking infields, and fence repair.
- Painting of park structures: buildings, signs, and trash barrels etc.
- Restroom cleaning and picnic facility preparation.
- Trash and litter collection.
- Tree maintenance: watering, fertilizing, mulching, pruning and wrapping for winter.
- Turf fertilization.
- Shrub and flower bed maintenance: weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, and fertilizing.
- Assist Fulltime Staff on technical maintenance or special projects: irrigation repair, equipment repair, landscaping construction and repairs to varied facilities.
- Weekend work is required.
- Assist in pool preparation & maintenance.
- 18 years of age (by date of hire) or older.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in home and yard maintenance activities.
- Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, lift, grip.
Seasonal position. Rotating weekends required. Typical shift is Monday through Friday approximately 37.5 hours a week.
Rate of pay dependent on qualifications.
