What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal - Laborer - Reid Golf Course position at City of Appleton?
The Laborer position reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and is required to perform various golf course maintenance related tasks in a safe, efficient and courteous manner. The Laborer will be required to work outside with extended shifts, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Mow greens, tees, surrounds, rough and out-of-play areas with turf equipment developed specifically for golf course operations.
- Prune trees and shrubs to maintain quality vegetation and a positive golfing experience.
- Change golf course setup.
- Assist staff with landscaping and construction projects.
- Maintain sand bunkers.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Any other tasks applicable to golf course maintenance.
- Perform basic housekeeping duties as needed.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to safely operate riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, shrub trimmers, cup changers, tractors up to 25 HP and pick-up trucks.
- Ability to withstand a variety of temperature and weather extremes.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and carry out those instructions with limited supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public and to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Ability to work irregular schedules based on weather, projects, operations, etc.
- Must provide own safety-toed shoes.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least eighteen years of age.
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: March - November
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible hours between 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Weekends and holidays.
