Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate the logistics process by performing key functions including but not limited to:
- Receiving.
- Inspecting deliveries.
- Entry of items into the inventory system.
- Inventory control.
- Distribution of materials and supplies within the Fire Department.
- Sorting and storing materials.
- Analyze purchasing trends to develop short term and long-range plans and budgets.
- Analyze data and statistics to make projections, prepare graphic representations to identify trends in a digestible format for the executive team, including but not limited to:
- Developing spreadsheet applications to aid management decisions.
- Cost projections.
- Condition/aging analysis. * Provide project life cycle management of multiple assets including but not limited to:
- Creating new data collection plans.
- Testing new technology.
- Documenting logistics processes.
- Support Purchasing Coordinator with procurement as necessary by
- Compiling bids.
- Entering suppliers into the system of record.
- Adherence to purchasing processes. * Forecasting to communicate item replacement needs and developing replacement plans. * Maintain the fleet budget for the Apparatus Specialist, AFD's Fleet Liaison. * Ensure compliance with city policy and government regulations including grant regulations. * Supplies and services required to operate the Fire Department while ensuring purchases do not exceed budget. * Attend scheduled meetings and provide reports, and any supporting details as required, related to:
- Purchases.
- Requisitions.
- Equipment inventory.
- Any other similar categories as requested by management or in the absence of the Logistics Captain.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Skill in maintaining accurate, detailed records.
- Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, equipment, and computer software.
- Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate to accomplish unit objectives.
- Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to seeing, sorting, typing, carrying, lifting, and climbing to and from height.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment on an occasional basis and in a warehouse without air-conditioning on a regular basis.
- Ability to work after normal business hours and on weekends as needed.
- Skilled in analyzing possible alternative methods, methods of processing information, and choosing the best solution to problems generating innovative ideas or solutions.
- Associate degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- 1-2 years of experience in procurement, inventory control, transportation, warehousing/distribution center
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of fire equipment, parts, and materials and how they are utilized.
- Knowledge of fire service industry standards for equipment, supplies, and maintenance (Including but not limited to NFPA 1500, 1851, 1852, 1971, etc.).
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to the air truck, Resource van, utility truck, or other motorized vehicles.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- Experience in supply chain management.
- Experience in large scale and/or governmental purchasing.
- Experience with small engine repair, power mechanics, or related fields.
