What are the responsibilities and job description for the Street Maintenance Worker position at City of Atchison?
The Street Maintenance Worker is generally responsible for the maintenance and repair of public streets, alleys and right-of-way. Working on a team of eight full-time maintenance workers and equipment operators under the supervision of the Streets & Solid Waste Superintendent, this position focuses on operating the streetsweeper, performing asphalt street maintenance and repairs, providing snow and ice removal on public streets, maintaining stormwater infrastructure and general construction. The Street Maintenance Worker primarily operates the streetsweeper, dump trucks, asphalt equipment, hand tools and power tools.
Required: 18 Years or Older with a High School Diploma or G.E.D., a valid driver’s license and a pre-employment drug and physical screening and the ability to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. including possible overtime for callouts, snow removal and special event support.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license within 90 days of employment. Training, equipment and testing expenses are provided. 1 years of experience working in an outdoor or construction setting and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
