What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Treatment Plant Operator-in-Training position at City of Atchison?
The City of Atchison has an opening for a team-oriented individual that will be working at the Water Treatment Plant. The individual will perform tasks in a learning mode in the day-to-day monitoring and operation of a water treatment plant, performing lab tests, operation of a forklift, minor maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and plant processes. Position requires manual labor, operation of power and hand tools and city vehicles. This position is scheduled as follows:
Sunday 11pm-Monday 7am
Monday 11pm-Tuesday 7am
Tuesday 11pm-Wednesay 7am
Wednesday 11pm-Thursday 7am
Thursday 11pm-Friday 7am
The first couple of weeks, training will take place on day shifts.
Employees must meet requirements to be certified as an Operator within 12 months of hire. The pay grade and rate will be increased at that time.
Requirements include, but are not limited to, a high school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license. Job related physical, substance abuse screening, and background check upon offer of employment.
