General Description and Classification Standards
The Assistant Director of International Affairs is responsible for supporting Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in fostering global relationships, promoting international trade, and driving economic development. This role involves working closely with ATL's strategic partners to enhance airport revenues, expand global partnerships, and strengthen the airport's presence in international markets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Strategic Relationship Management:
o Collaborate with 35 bi-national chambers of commerce, 75 consulates, international trade offices, and economic development partners, including Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Invest Atlanta, and governmental offices.
o Deepen relationships with foreign dignitaries and diplomats to promote global trade and attract foreign direct investment to Georgia and Atlanta.
• International Affairs Operations:
o Direct, coordinate, oversee, plan, and execute daily activities related to ATL’s international affairs functions.
o Provide port courtesies (e.g., meet-and-greet services) and manage logistics for heads of state and high-level delegation visits.
o Ensure compliance with cultural norms and relevant regulations in all international programs and engagements.
• Program Development and Expansion:
o Develop and implement international programs, initiatives, and events to strengthen ATL’s global footprint, leveraging 75 international and 150 domestic connections.
o Actively participate in economic development and trade meetings to identify growth opportunities and promote initiatives like ATLNEXT.
o Work with ATL’s Air Service Development team to build relationships with stakeholders in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
o Expand the reach of stakeholder engagement and enhance international business collaboration.
o Represent ATL in discussions with international trade offices and economic development partners to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth in global markets.
Supervision Received
This position reports directly to the Senior Director of International Affairs and works collaboratively with the Air Service Development team and other airport divisions.
