Heavy Motor Equipment Operator/ Laborer
Pay Range: $23.52 - $28.26 per hour
The City of Attleboro seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator/Laborer for the Department of Public Works to operate heavy equipment with a rated capacity up to 9 tons used in road maintenance and construction, including but not limited to: large tractors, road sweepers, snow loaders, leaf loaders, snow fighters, sidewalk rollers and road flushers.
Duties include operates trucks with a rated capacity of more than 3 tons and up through 9 tons, large tractors, and equipment such as road sweepers, snow loaders, leaf loaders, snow fighters, sidewalk rollers and road flushers. Plows and sands highways. May perform duties and operate equipment normally operated by a Motor Equipment Repairman operating pick-up truck, dump trucks and panel trucks with a rated capacity of 3 tons or under; passenger automobiles, sidewalk plows and sweepers; small tractors, bulldozers and rollers. When not operating equipment performs routine manual labor tasks in connection with maintenance care, upkeep, repair, marking and beautification of City property such as cutting grass, weeds and brush; cleaning culverts, catch basin drains and ditches; loading and unloading trucks and cars; spreading sand, gravel, and asphalt; patching concrete and asphalt surfaces; digging ditches and post holes; setting or pulling of posts; repairing of signs, general cleaning of roads, as well as all other duties outlined in laborer’s job description. Sweeps sidewalks, rakes lawns, hauls debris, shovels snow, plows and sands roads and performs other manual tasks in connection with snow removal. Cleans, washes, gases, oils and greases trucks and automobiles; changes tires and performs other minor maintenance on equipment. Paint lines and crosswalks on streets. Loads and unloads trucks; picks up and hauls materials; transports personnel. Works in Snow and Ice Program. Performs related work as required.
High School diploma or GED required. Two years’ experience in performing manual work and operating heavy equipment required. Must possess and maintain a valid CDL B license with airbrakes endorsement.
40 hours per week. Mon. – Fri. 7:00 to 3:30 (Hours subject to change or extension). During inclement weather, hours of duty will be extended.
