DESCRIPTION
This position requires accomplishment of secretarial/administrative responsibilities and requires completion of a variety of general office tasks. The position also requires performance of standardized office duties and requires use of judgment, based on knowledge gained through experience. The chosen employee will be expected to develop their own techniques and procedures. The position requires coordination with the 4-H Agent, Program Assistants and Extension staff. The chosen employee will work cooperatively with all agents and is administratively responsible to the County 4-H Agent and County Extension Coordinator. The position is for a work schedule that will customarily run from 11am - 5pm each weekday except under extenuating circumstances (29 hours total.)
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts duties in accordance with The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service EEO/AA plan that ensures educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability.
- Operates office computer and must be proficient in current word processing and other programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook Exchange.
- Provides customer service to the public during business hours unless otherwise temporarily assigned.
- Operates a variety of office equipment such as scanners, copier, laminator, and telephone.
- Maintains the office filing system in a manner that corresponds with the standard for all Extension offices.
- Receives and submits various types of water, soil, and plant samples for testing of clientele.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.

Experience: One year of administrative or clerical support experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of business grammar and punctuation.
- Personal skills to perform public relations responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, district, and state staff, local government employees, and clientele.
- Ability to exhibit high standard of professionalism in personal contacts, appearance, and work habits.
- Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required. Adobe Illustrator and social media experience preferred.
Licensing: Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
